KUPENDA (DOCUMENTARY)

On the coast of Kenya, where people impacted by disability are often shunned and viewed as cursed, three determined teenagers set out to challenge their community’s long-held stigma and climb Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro.

ABOUT KUPENDA FOR THE CHILDREN

There are 580 million children with disabilities and 80% live in developing nations. Most of these children are neglected, abused and excluded from community life.

Kupenda (“love” in Swahili) for the Children is an American nonprofit organization that has been working to help these children access medical care, education, and community inclusion for more than 20 years.

Each year, Kupenda trains hundreds of community leaders and parents of children with disabilities as disability advocates who improve the lives of more than 40,000 children with disabilities.
